Thermal Equilibrium

The time to reach equilibrium depends on the kinetics of the reaction. In turn, the kinetics are described by rate laws. IB does not deal with kinetics of reversible reactions but you can look them up online. For first and second order reactions you need the integrated reaction rate laws. For more complicated reactions you need to solve a system of differential equations. Ideally you would know the rate constants, but typically you manipulate one chemical species at a time and you would fine the rate law that way.
