I need to ask all the SL bio students who are doing Option C

For option C:

is nucleic acids and proteins part of option C

or is it just cell respiration and photosynthesis?

from the Oxford IB study guide.

ASAP please!

I did this option last year. Option C includes proteins, enzymes, cell respiration, and photosynthesis. :(

HI

I'm a bit confused, see, in the sample exam papers I found the options for HL are

D) evolution

E) neurobiology and behaviour

F)Applied plant and animal science

G) ecology and conservation

H)further human physiology

however I've got the HL biology book of HEINEMANN (developed specifically for IB) and their options are all the same except instead ofapplied plant and animal sciences they havemicrobes and biotechnology

which one is the correct one??

Microbes is a new option for 2009 and onwards, it replaced applied plant and animal science - you will find this option in past papers up to 2008. So your book is right. (You can also have a look at the syllabus.)

My eams start on my forst day back in January, and now, I have to get revising, the only subject I'm worring about is Bio-and its HL the info above, is something that we all have, so I've been looking for exam papers, and I've found it impossible to get them! Does anyone know where you can actually get (free) the exam papers-past papers obviously to practice with-and hopefully print out??!! :)

yeaaa i had the same question. my exam is in two weeks and i'd really like to get some sample questions just to practice at home. i went on this website : http://www.saburchill.com/border/awards.html but it doesn't have any sample questions for biology :) . Does anyone know of a website i could visit? please? :(

Ecology is the most boring thing ever invented, although it's quite an easy option otherwise. I'd do microbes, if I were you!

I know someone's already posted this link, but Click4Biology is so mind-blowingly amazing!

They've updated their stuff to the new 2009 syllabus. Go check them out!

It's like the entire syllabus outlined, with explanations, graphics, etc.

And if I sound like an ad, haha oh well?

honestly speaking, both are excessively boring. I am currently doing ecology and conservation and i just did microbes and biotechnology. However, if i were you, I would choose microbes and biotechnology since ecology was already a chapter in the SL syllabus

Here are some other great websites I found for Biology. Most of them are IB specific however there are others that are not but still provide very good information and revision for Biology in general. The links should still be working.

I think everyone likes this one because it has all the topics and some options (A, E, H).

For the BBC websites, I have this other link, hopefully it works for you guys!

In Section B of Paper 2 (the extended-response questions), would writing the answer in bullet points be good or bad for achieving quality marks? Our teacher advised us to answer in bullet points but all of the sample answers I've seen are in prose format.
