I just need help studying for the entrance exam, are there any Parkdale Ib students that can help me? I am not really worried about the math part of the test I am just worried for the last long answer question in the math test. The only thing I am really stressed about is the 40 min essay, like what are the topics for the essay they usually give and how should I write a great 40 min essay relating to that topic? I am really stressed and If anyone has experience doin the exam please help me and let me know how hard it was and how I should study. Oh and my test it on Jan 11 Thanks and please reply! kw0573
I applied to Parkdale a while back. I cannot remember the essay topic but in general they are probably about why you are a good candidate for the IB program, or something about what you plan to do when you grow up. Just make sure you follow the basic format of an essay, eg introduction, paragraphs about your main points (usually 3) and a conclusion. ( Oh and thanks for the quick reply) Reply
kw0573
In retrospect I thought it was very reasonable. Reply

kw0573
If I have to guess I think it's about 50%. Reply

Do you know how many students apply? What is your source? While 22 may be the actual graduating class size, it is very unlikely to be the admittance size. For one, the schools receives funding per student, and it is much more expensive per student when you have such a small class size. Secondly, most Toronto students do no just apply to Parkdale, so there might not be ANY students going there if the school only gives out 22 spots and many may be accepted into a closer IB school. Finally, the IB school I went to in the GTA had 500 applicants and about 200 were accepted. The most competitive program I know of in Toronto is TOPS, which still accepts 50 students last time I checked. Reply

I probably got the wrong info since it is very unlikely for only 22 students to be accepted but thanks for making it clear. Reply
