helpgobblepengu
Hi, I'm struggling to choose my standard math IA topic. I was thinking about doing something about modeling musical chords using sine waves. There's not much to talk about, unfortunately, but it's something I am interested in. There aren't many mathematical equations involved but it's still related to the theory of sound waves and sine waves. Please help, the topic deadline is due soon! Thank you Reply
kw0573
So for any single note, the wave function is not a simple sin (kx) (2pi / k being the frequency). Each note is a sum of hundreds of waves of different frequencies with primarily one function. So a chord is just adding the waves of (three) notes. I am not sure what you could do with this or what your approach is. Reply
