Thoughts of this topic for English EE?

To what extent are C.S Lewis and James Matthew Barrie successful in rendering their child protagonists in The Magician's Nephew and Peter Pan sympathetic to adult readers?

Any advice of how to tackle the topic, or thoughts on the topic in general would be much appreciated :)
