There are some really useful websites that you can use, like clilffnotes, sparknotes, shmoop, litcharts, prepscholar etc. If you dont have the time, I can summarise a little bit.

Here is a summary of sparknotes character analysis of Tom Buchanan

  • Physically built ("cruel body")
    • Due to being a college athlete
    • Echoed by his mental inflexibility
  • Brutal personality
  • He peaked very early in life (shown by him attempting to recapture his youth)
    • Causes him to always feel victimized
    • Always wants to feel in control

If you want there are many more websites with slitghlty different content. They might help.

Here is an example paragraph you can use.
In the Great Gatsby, Tom is married to Daisy. Initially, they seem to be quite close, but later we learn that Daisy's attraction to him is his wealth and status. This could be a representation of the upper class of the 1920s where the men don't hold the social attitudes they expect of others and the women find true happiness in material things rather than love. For example, they both have a child for which neither truly care for.
