Hannah__
My SL Chem IA is about the number of potential oxidation states of a transition metal effecting its catalytic ability in the reaction between sodium thiosulfate and iron(III) nitrate solutions. My question is, I'm not sure if I should be looking at just common potential oxidation states, eg. Iron +2 and +3, or include unusual ones, eg. Iron +4 and +5. Will transition metals be reduced/oxidized to any unusual/rare states as catalysts in this reaction? Thank you! Reply
