I think there are two considerations. 1) Can you draw a diagram that you can explain and apply. 2) Are you able to effectively analyse and evaluate the impact on stakeholders. If yes, I think you are good to go. The only challenge for out of syllabus ideas is that students may find problems in applying and analysing it. Hope this helps.
