Business extended essay

Hi, Im almost finishing my EE but im a bit stock on applying a business tool for my question. My question is the following: "What are the main marketing strategies used by McDonald’s to become the second-largest fast-food franchise in the United States of America, India, El Salvador, United Kingdom, Russia and Morocco from 1954 through present days?" 

I'm not sure if I should be using SWOT analysis for my question and analysing a marketing strategy. 

Could you please help me
