What it really means to retake in November 2020

IB is giving students who got their marks in May 2020 an opportunity to write the exams in November 2020 and this will not be counted as one of their 3 retakes. But does this mean they will still count the higher mark of the two sessions (May and November), or does only the November one count.  This is not a typical retake, where the higher grade is the one that counts. And this is not a typical deferred exam either as we already got our grades in May.  I called the IB support line and the person who answered seemed to think the higher one will count but on further discussion with her, she seemed not so sure anymore, and told me to talk to the school coordinator instead and get the school to email IBO. Our IB school coordinator seems to think that our marks could decrease if we write the November exam.  The IB website itself is a little unclear.  Has anyone looked into this or has any ideas?
