IBStressingOut
OK, so I'm currently a junior in HL Math and I hate it! I'm going to the diploma, but I already have three other HLs so I'm good.If I were to go from HL I to SL II for Math...would this hinder me? Does SL learn different topics? I really don't want to continue with HL, but I really don't want to take Math Studies because I want basic Calculus at least... Reply
laryxle
HL covers all the same topics as SL, it just has additional things as well, so you will be fine if you go into SL maths. Reply
Austin Glau
By IB Maths SL II do you mean the SL options? because I was not aware that there was two SL classes...EDIT: Sorry, there isn't any IB Maths SL II at my school, just SL and HL. So I wasn't sure, thanks for clarifying Edited December 10, 2009 by 2401 I Hate Tangents 1 Reply
IBStressingOut
SL options? My school has IB Math SL II & IB Math Studies SL, so two SL maths. Reply
Abu
There is no SL Maths Options. It's either Maths HL / Maths SL / Maths Studies (which is automatically SL. And OP, there shouldn't be a problem if you switch between Maths HL and SL. I assume you will be attending a university in America once you finish high school since in the US, they do not care much if you graduate with SL or HL maths. On the other hand, if you want to go to the UK or any other country for that matter, and if you wanted to study a degree in Engineering or whatnot, you'd need HL Maths. 3 Reply
