Reluctant Fundamentalist - What is the importance of the american in the Novel (ideas below)?

Recommended Posts

- He is an important literary device as the extended monologue would not work w/out him and Changez has someone to talk to

- Used to symbolise things (e.g National Arts Girls .... sterotype americans...)

- COntrast with old vs new Changez ... east vs west

- Who he actually is

How should i add to these ideas and expand them for a 10 min. oral

Is this not enough for 10 minutes? I assume that you can support each point you make with at least 2 examples relating to the text. Plus, I assume you have an overarching, general idea that ties your points together. Once you have the body fleshed out, try to leave your audience feeling both enlightened and intrigued by posing a question, maybe relating your presentation to real life. This way, you'll explain the significance to us, outside of the work [which I have not even heard of before, so I can't really give you indepth information].
