I'M HAVING A CRISIS!

Recommended Posts

So my world lit 2 is due at 11:59pm tonight and im not sure if i have too many quotes (i have 24...) is that too many? I'm scared that if i take any out the teacher will call me out for "not rooting in the text a lot" but i also dont want him to call me out for "using up too much word count with quotes"

WHAT DO I DO!!!!!!??? i only have two hours and ten minutes left!!! :sadnod:

24 does seem like a LOT. Even if they're all just 3-4 words each, that seems a bit crazy. You need a balance because after all the quotes are just the evidence for points you're making -- the important thing is really the points themselves. I'm pretty certain I definitely had no more than 7 or 8 quotes :sadnod:

EDIT: Okay that was a slight underestimate, I had12 quotes, but several just 1-3 words each. I do agree with the poster below; you need balance. 24 quotes sounds like a large swing towards evidence over discussion, but of course I can't see your essay to see what the split is like!

My WL2 has about 27 or 28 quotes...all the feedback i've received on it is that it is very good. I think that as long as you still make your points then having lots of quotes can only be a good thing, it shows a good understanding of the text and highlights points very eloquently.

But most importantly, DON'T PANIC ,written in large, kind letters.
